What is JDRF Australia's Annual Giving Day?

Our Annual Giving Day is a chance for the dedicated type 1 diabetes community to raise vital funds for research. As we all know, research holds the key to unlocking type 1 diabetes. This is the chance to make a HUGE impact on type 1 diabetes research as all donations from the public will be matched!

When does it start?

It begins at 10am AEST on the Thursday 30 May 2024 and goes for 24 hours.

Where does my money go?

expand_more expand_less

Funds from our Annual Giving Day will go towards vital T1D research. This can range from antibody testing and developing technology to helping progress promising Disease-Modifying Therapies (DMTs) and screening children for T1D.

Ultimately, this money will help turn type 1 into type none.

Can I donate before 30 May?

expand_more expand_less
Yes! All donations made at givingday.jdrf.org.au will go towards our Annual Giving Day. If you want to donate right now, it will still be counted against our goal amount, you just won’t see it on the page until 10am AEST on 30 May. As soon as we’re live, you will see your donation on the page and who has matched it.

How are donations being matched?

We’ve been lucky enough to partner with Funraisin, a platform that allows gift-matching for non-profits like us. Every time someone makes a donation at givingday.jdrf.org.au, our pool of generous corporates and individual supporters are able to match it.

Who are the donation matchers?

expand_more expand_less
Corporate organisations and high-profile JDRF supporters make up the majority of the donation matchers. Want to see who they are? Set yourself a reminder and head over to givingday.jdrf.org.au on 30 May to check it out.

What amount of my donation is tax deductable?

expand_more expand_less
Your original donation amount, before matching, will be visible in a tax-deductible receipt and emailed to you once it has been confirmed.

Can community fundraising efforts (for example a Bunnings BBQ or raffle) be doubled through Giving Day?

expand_more expand_less
No, funds raised from community fundraising activities cannot be doubled through the Giving Day platform. The platform is specifically designed for personal donations, which are tax-deductible, whereas funds from fundraising activities are not.

Why can't community fundraising funds be matched?

expand_more expand_less

The Giving Day and the Tax Appeal focus on tax-deductible donations. Community fundraising funds are not eligible for tax deductions, and therefore, they cannot be processed through the Giving Day platform or matched from the pool.

What should I do with the funds raised through community fundraising?

If you have raised funds through community fundraising and would like to donate them to JDRF, please visit the Blue Army website at bluearmy.jdrf.org.au or contact JDRF donor services by emailing info@jdrf.org.au.

What can I do to spread the word?

You can share the JDRF Giving Day page with your friends, family and colleagues on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter or via email. The more you share, the more chances of us getting closer to our target on the day!

Double your impact now!

Australia is at a turning point for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. With new treatment options on the horizon and screening initiatives scaling faster than ever before, there’s never been a more exciting time to support local breakthroughs.

When you donate now, your investment in a world without T1D doubles – helping make the next big T1D breakthroughs a reality.
